Not a franchisee or a truck driver from a booking system. The bloke who quotes it is the bloke who loads it.
He does the lifting
No bags to fill, no skip to load. Leave it in a pile and he loads it, sweeps up and takes it away.
Priced off your pile
Not a bin size. A heap beside the driveway and one at the bottom of a steep yard are different jobs and get different prices.
A straight no when it’s a no
Standing tree, asbestos, or more rubbish than garden — he tells you before he starts, not after.
What Ross does
Green waste removal services in Preston
A pruning pile hauled away and a few bags of leaf litter collected is the usual combination on a Preston block.
Green Waste Removal Preston
Piles of prunings, branches, hedge trimmings, leaves and weeds that won't fit in the green bin. Ross backs the trailer in, loads it himself and takes it away to be recycled — you don't lift a thing.
Big hedges, palms and backyard fruit trees.
Garden & Yard Clean-Ups Preston
Doing a big garden clean-up — overgrown beds, a back corner nobody has touched in years, a rental between tenants or a property being tidied for sale? Pile it all up and Ross collects the lot in one visit.
Whole yards cleared before sale or rental.
Fire Season Clean-Ups Preston
Fallen limbs, shed bark, leaf litter and dry prunings gathered up from around the house — the fine fuel that matters most in a grassfire or ember attack. Collected and taken away before the Fire Danger Period starts.
Dead growth and old cuttings cleared out.
Fallen Branch & Storm Clean-Up Preston
A gum has dropped a limb across the driveway, or a windy night has left the yard covered. Ross collects what's come down and hauls it away. Standing trees and hung-up limbs are an arborist's job — once they've dropped it, Ross can take it away.
What green waste removal in Preston actually involves
Preston stretches a long way, from the edge of Thornbury up past Bell Street to Reservoir, and the housing changes as you go. South of Bell Street there are more Edwardian and interwar homes; further north it is mostly postwar brick and weatherboard on wider blocks, many with a proper back yard and a long driveway down the side.
Those back yards were built for growing things. Cypress and privet hedges, cocos palms, big lemon and apricot trees, and garages covered in vines are all common. They produce a lot of green waste, and Preston’s larger blocks mean the pile at the back can get well out of hand before anyone notices.
Loaded by hand, strapped down, and off to the green waste facility.
Hedges, palms and big backyard trees
Old conifer and privet hedges are one of the biggest sources of garden waste in Preston. Once they have gone a few years without a trim, cutting them back produces bulk green waste far beyond a council bin — and the thick stems don’t break down in a compost heap either.
Palms are the other one. Dropped fronds and seed heads are awkward, spiky and heavy. Ross stacks them on the trailer and takes them with the rest.

Driveway access makes it quicker
A lot of Preston houses have a driveway running down one side to a garage or carport out the back, which is good news. If the trailer can reverse up the drive, loading is much faster than carrying everything through a narrow gate, and that shows up in the price.
Where the drive is blocked by cars, a boat or a gate that doesn’t open wide, Ross will load from the street instead. A photo of the drive with your enquiry helps him plan.
One pickup or a regular one
Some jobs are one-offs: a hedge that finally got cut, a tree the arborist has dropped and left in rounds, or the clear-out before a sale. Others come round every season.
If your garden produces more than the green bin can handle, a regular green waste collection every few months stops the pile building up. Book each one when you need it — there is no contract or lock-in.

Get ahead of spring growth
Hedges and vines in Preston put on most of their growth from September. Get the winter cut-back done and the cuttings removed in August or early September, and the garden has a clean start instead of new growth coming through a pile of dead wood.

The bloke doing it
Owner-operated, and it stays that way
Ross runs this on his own. He quotes the job, he turns up, he loads the trailer and he
takes it away — the same bloke every visit. There is no office in between, no skip
company, and no franchise cut coming out of what you pay.
It also means he will tell you when something isn't his job — a standing tree that
needs an arborist, or a pile that is more rubbish than garden — rather than taking the
money and leaving you with half a problem.
Yes — north and south of Bell Street, and across to Reservoir and Thornbury. Send the address and a photo, and Ross will reply with a price.
Volume and access, mainly. A heap the trailer can back up to is quick; the same heap carried through a narrow side gate takes longer. Heavy, thick wood takes longer to load than light clippings.
Yes. They are awkward but they are green waste. Ross stacks them so they fit and loads them with the rest.
Yes, within reason. Rounds that one person can lift are fine. Very large trunk sections may need to be split first — send a photo and Ross will tell you.
No. Green waste only — no household or hard rubbish, building waste, rubble, soil, treated timber or anything that could contain asbestos. That keeps the load clean enough for green waste disposal and recycling.
No. Ring or message when the pile is ready and book the next one. Some people do it quarterly, some once a year.

Thanks — that's gone through to Ross. Spring is his busiest time, so if it's close to fire season he may take a day or two.
